This week’s all new Community Focus features, Cara Nicholas, Associate Director of Public Relations, Hoxworth Blood Center!

Cara shared that in a typical year, blood donations tend to drop off during the summer months due to people traveling, or families being on an irregular schedule. This year, the need has reached a critical level due to already low donations due to quarantine and the Coronavirus. Since mobile blood drives are on hold, Hoxworth Blood Center is looking for businesses who may have large areas such as conference rooms, gyms, etc to host blood drives to aid in providing conevenient locations for donors.

Hoxworth is practicing safe social distancing at its donor centers, and blood donations from qualified donors are much welcome. Hoxworth is also accepting plasma donations from individuals who have successfully recovered from COVID19 to assist patients in hospitals who may be currently battling the virus.

Be sure to check out their Facebook page for the latest information on blood drives going on in the tri-state area. This interview will air tonight at 5:45 pm, Saturday at 5;45 pm, and on Sunday at 9:15 am and 7:15 pm right here on Christian Talk 1160!
